JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION June 19, 2014!

Please join COMAEA for a Juneteenth celebration/BBQ at the Civic Center Lagoon, Jury parking lot side, for some good food, good music and mingle with fellow co-workers from other parts of the County.  

Presented by COMAEA and the County of Marin

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19^th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
